6 Ways to Stay Sane During Social Distancing
We will all look back on this as a strange time in history. Being at home alone or with your family, learning to isolate but be ever more connected online.
You might guess my favorite tip which is wearing your artisan made Twyla Dill jewelry around the house. Believe me, it really does help!
I don’t know about you but I always feel better after a workout! Whether it’s going on a walk or doing pushups, anything helps. My current favorites are taking an online class ‘Yoga With Adrienne’ (it’s free!), putting on some music and having a solo dance party, or going for a jog. Just make sure if you’re leaving your house that you’re practicing social distancing.
Ten Things You’re Grateful For
There’s nothing better to lift spirits than to acknowledge what you’re grateful for, especially in trying times. Grab a notebook and jot down ten things you’re grateful for every day either first thing in the morning or when you need a little boost. Doing this shifts your focus to the little sparks that make life good. And there are always silver linings.
Lose the Schedule
A lot of people are talking about staying productive at home and while I’m still working, we all need time to process and let go a little. I stopped getting up with an alarm clock because I don’t have anywhere to be. What else can you be more flexible about? Maybe letting your morning cup of tea last a little longer while you stare out the window?
Invest in Hand Lotion
Maybe I’m the only one, but with all this washing my hands are way more dry than normal. I have two lotions I swear by. The first one is any of the balms and whips from Render Skincare, they’re my absolute favorite. Bonus: she’s a local business owner. I use these at night and really let them soak in. The other is Weleda Skin Food, the perfect lotion to use throughout the day when you need serious hydration that soaks in fast.
Play With Your Food
Sometimes cooking can feel like a chore but how can you make it fun? What about finding a recipe you can make with ingredients you already have or not worrying about the nutritional breakdown. Let it be fun and easy to eat at home without pressure to meal prep for the week ahead.
Wear Your Jewelry!
You know how good you feel when you put on your favorite jewelry or outfit? Don’t stop doing that. I wear a different pair of statement earrings every day because it makes me happy. It doesn’t matter if anyone sees you. Trust me, if you need a pick-me-up, dressing up a little is the way to go. And no one cares if you’re wearing yoga pants with your fancy earrings. I do all the time!
